Still Life

Describe: For this photo, there are three different shapes of seashells, a yellow hibiscus flower and an orange background. The picture is taken indoors with a solid white background and I used tungsten lights to create the shadows. I added a white faded edges to create a sense of memory that I had.

Analyze: The tone of the picture is light with a lot of soothing and comfortable feeling. I only wanted to use simple shapes and things like the flower and seashell because I wanted to show what were the things I missed in Hawaii.

Interpret: I wanted to show the laid back and comfortable feeling of when I was back in Hawaii because that's where I used to live and I miss the flowers and the beaches of when I used to live there. By using a hibiscus flower and some seashells with a shadow of a lei creates the feelings that I used to have when I was in Hawaii.

Judge: I think that this was an alright shot because at first I really couldn't get the shot I wanted. At first, I added a colorful lei, but then I took it out because it looked really messy, and so I just left the flower and the seashells with an orange background to match the color of the flower's center. Overall, I like the way it turned out after I photo shopped it.

Ethnicity

These murals are from Chicano Park where they have many Mexican Heritage paintings that people drew. At first, I didn't know what to shoot at all because I was thinking of doing a portrait of an ethnic person, but then I realized that there's more ethnicity all around our area, so I went around San Diego, and found these. There are many colorful designs signifying the Mexican culture. I was very happy with the results because the murals spoke for itself. I did not have to really do anything, but take pictures of them at their perfect angles. I was able to capture the true meaning of the word Ethnicity. By visiting the place, I was able to learn more about the Mexican heritage as well as the other ethnicity that was around the park.

The tone of the picture is not too dark, but not too light. I kind of saturated the colors for both pictures, and I warmed the second picture. For the second picture, I also showed the colored for the murals instead of everything because I wanted the viewers to focus on the murals instead of the other things.

Proposal

This is the photo that I shot for the proposal, and I think that I was able to capture what I was trying to go for in the shot. This will be added to my portfolio. I really like how her eyes became so intense and everything. It feels like she is really trying to come out of the mask, yet still peeking from behind. I wanted to make it seem like she was unfolding her true identity slowly. I used a blue sleeping mask and it worked perfectly. Since I'm using it for my senior ex, I will edit it more to make it more dramatic.

Extra Credit

These are some shots of my little sister and little cousin with their teddy bears. My little cousin is wearing a mask to show that adults are not the only people that hide behind a mask. Little children also hide behind their own masks, and they have their own different personalities when it comes to different types of people: whether they are the same age, parents, or children younger than them. They all have a different personality. I just wanted to upload these here, for free time whenever I shoot randomly and extra credit please! =)

Group Photo

Describe: For this group, I see four models holding a video equipment such as a clipboard, headphones, videocamera, and microphone. The picture is taken indoors with a white background. I did not know what to do at first, and I was trying to find where to shoot around the school, so i was walking around looking for a place to shoot for inspiration, but ended up not finding any. When I was at home, I realized that I had friends that took video 1st period, and so I ended up asking them for help with my photo.

Analyze: The tone of the picture is not dark or not too light. It is just right with a simple backdrop. I wanted everything to be focused to show the art of the video production.

Interpret: I wanted to show what equipment is needed in order to properly have a great video shoot. By having the props and the models interacting with the equipment, I was able to capture the things that are needed in order to properly come up with a video using the equipment. Each equipment is needed to make a good video.

Judge: I thought that this shoot was successful even though I was not planning on doing anything about video production. I was able to gather people that had k-Arts and was able to use them for the shoot, so it would seem real that these people knew what they were doing with the equipment. It was hard trying to get the angles correctly until I got this shot which was straight ahead, yet it works!

Different Setting Shot

Describe: This is an image of Melissa in the wall ball courts in the back of the school. I wanted to try a different setting instead of always using the studio, so I went outside and went to the PE Area where I saw the numbers and thought that it would be a pretty cool shot using those numbers.
Analyze: There are a lot of lines in the picture and the numbers are all lined up. The image is all in focus because I wanted to show all the shapes and lines that are in the background. Not only focus on the model, but also the background. It was done intentionally.
Interpret: The image is a little dark and neutral to show the dimness and equal tones of both the models emotions and the background. It was taken outdoors in the field.
Judge: I did not really have a planned model, and so I used her because she was already with me while we were looking for a location.Overall, I think that i could have done a better job with the picture location.
